A fascinating cosmic journey exploring how Astrology and planetary cycles can affect our future on Earth! With the historical Mayan calendar ending this month, many of us wonder what is in store for us. Demian’s book ‘The Astrological Dynamics of the Universe 1970-2020’ provides many answers, showing how our perception of the world as we know it has been influenced by planetary cycles and what changes lay in store for us in the near future.

The book’s author, Demian Allan, is the former Vice Chairman of the British Astrological and Psychic Society. He is a professional astrologer, psychic, tarot reader and spiritual teacher. Demian teaches at the School of Intuition and Healing in London and is a political astrologer for Channel 4 news.

Demian’s book is aimed at a universal audience. It examines how the astrological cycles of planets in signs has had a major impact on the Western World since 1970, giving examples of how particular planetary cycles have changed our society. Diverse themes in recent history are examined in this context, ranging from the Punk movement to the rise of Margaret Thatcher. The book also gives a detailed account of the inevitable changes that will occur in the next eight years and how they will affect you. The book aims to answer a fundamental question: what is the dynamic of the universe and how does it affect us? It advocates that Astrology is able to guide us in the right direction in regards to how we relate to the world and how we respond emotionally, politically and spiritually. Demian shows us how astrological information is processed and its meaning, informing us that the universe is a constant flow of energy and possibilities and that we need to learn to adjust and evolve as human beings.

As the book covers the next eight years, until 2020, Demian assures us that the world is not about to end. However he believes we do face many challenges that we must overcome, as individuals, nations and from a universal perspective. He states that the next eight years will be the ‘Crisis point’, where old structures will be ripped apart to allow new ones emerge. Demian uses his expert knowledge of how astrological cycles work to show us what changes we face. The book provides an introduction to the structure of the zodiac. The cycles of each of the outer planets’ vibrations (Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune and Pluto) are featured, explaining the implications when they travel through a particular sign of the zodiac. It was very interesting to read for instance that from November 2012-2015, Saturn is in Scorpio. Demian explains this indicates that this period could prove to be a reminder that the structures laid down in the past no longer work. There will therefore be a need for change in our lives and in the way we view life.

Two case studies are contained in the book, for the United Kingdom and the United States with their individual country forecasts. The respective chapters for each country are appropriately titled ‘England’s Dreaming’ and ‘I have a Dream’! Each country forecast includes a detailed natal chart and the twelve houses that define each country’s functions. It is fascinating to read about the coming eight-year cycle and what the future may hold for the United Kingdom and the United States. Demian provides us with a complete guide on how to survive this period of change, detailing the planetary changes for each star sign.

This book is very practical. If Astrology is completely new to you will quickly understand how astrology works and why it is relevant. Another interesting feature of this book is that Demian displays a great contemporary touch by adding many cultural references from recent history. Well known films from the 1970s such as Star Wars, Jaws and The Exorcist are considered from an astrological perspective for instance.

The book really enhanced my understanding of Astrology, before reading this book I had always found it to be a challenging subject. I completely agree with the author about the cycles that we must learn in order to flow with the universe as a whole, the oneness. If you are looking for a dynamic read I recommend this particular astrological journey into the future, this book may change your perception of life!
